Our Affiliation With MCAA
About Our Partnership
Through a formal partnership with the Marine Corps Aviation Association, the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is strengthening its mission to preserve and share the legacy of Marine Aviation. This collaboration expands access to archival materials, supports joint initiatives, and positions FLAM as the central repository for MCAA historical collections.
Formal Affiliation of FLAM with the Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA)
As of 1 May 2026 and based on very similar mission statements which seek to preserve the heritage of Marine Aviation, the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum (FLAM), as part of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation (FLHF), entered into a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) establishing the foundation of a cooperative and collaborative relationship for the future. The MOU specifically delineates roles and responsibilities for both FLAM and MCAA to avoid unnecessary duplication of effort and build on the strengths of each organization. An administrative mechanism was put in place that allows for membership in one organization granting membership in both organizations. At this point, each organization remains independent and separate and the MCAA Board of Directors has provided a very generous donation to FLAM. FLAM will become the singular repository for all MCAA archival material which will be catalogued, preserved, and added to the FLAM Library to support educational initiatives and research. FLAM will store and maintain all MCAA Awards Trophies and update those awards annually and each organization will remain mutually supportive events, symposia, projects, conferences, and social gatherings.
