The Board of Directors and staff of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation, the docent team of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum and the staff of the Character Education Resource Center of the University of San Diego are pleased to announce the winners of the Fall 2016 essay contest.
The Middle School Division winning essays are:
FIRST PLACE: How I represent Honor, Courage and Commitment by Chloe Ellermeyer, a grade 6 student from St. Vincent De Paul School in San Diego, CA and submitted by teacher, Britni Coito.
SECOND PLACE: Semper Fidelis by Rosa Diaz, a grade 8 student from Heber School in Heber, CA and submitted by teacher, Christina Villanueva.
THIRD PLACE: Marine Corps by Sofia Lomeli, a grade 7 student from Heber School in Heber, CA and submitted by teacher, Francisco De La Rosa.
THIRD PLACE: Honor, Courage and Commitment by Isabelle Ster, a grade 8 student from Carmel Valley Middle School, San Diego, CA, and submitted by teacher Angela Halpin.
The High School Division winning essays are:
FIRST PLACE: Moral Compass by Sagiao Saitupu, a grade 12 student from The Charter School of San Diego, San Diego, CA, and submitted by teacher, Michael Hanna.
SECOND PLACE: Semper Fidelis: Always Faithful by Ryan Barnett , a grade 10 student from Poway High School, Poway CA., and submitted by teacher, Karen Kawasaki-Williams.
THIRD PLACE: Everyday Heroism by Danica Chen, a grade 10 home school student submitted by teacher Megan Floto.
