Jim Harker is the founding partner of Harker, Campbell & Belfield LLP, an Orange County, California law practice which represents entrepreneurs in business, estate & trust and related litigation matters. The firm recently celebrated its 45th anniversary and has offices in Santa Ana and Newport Beach, California
Jim is a native of Wisconsin who graduated from the University of Wisconsin in January 1970. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps Reserves upon graduation, having completed Officer Candidate School during the summers of 1967 and 1968. He served on active duty between 1970 and 1973. He was a Naval Flight Officer who flew as a Bombardier/ Navigator on the A-6 Intruder.
Following his active duty service, Jim worked at the Orange County Employees Association (OCEA) while finishing law school at night. At OCEA he developed an expertise in employment law which he carried into his law practice. He graduated from Western State University College of Law in 1976, took the California Bar in 1977 and founded his private practice in 1977.
Jim is Co-Owner of SoMa Cellars, a producer of fine wine in California and Bordeaux. Throughout his career he has been a supporter of many local charities, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Flying Leathernecks Historical Foundation and as a Trustee of The November 10th Association.
